Der Mantel ist in der Kunst oft ein Symbol für Schutz. Ganz einfach Schutz vor Kälte und Nässe, aber auch Schutz ganz allgemein (Schutzmantel-Madonna).
Es gibt Sprichworte, die sich um den Mantel drehen, z. B.: Jemand  oder etwas „mit dem Mantel der Liebe zudecken“ oder „Die Wahrheit ist ein wärmender Mantel“.

In the Arts, the coat often is a symbol for protection.
Protection against cold and wet weather, but also protection in general (Madonna with protective coat).
In Germany, we have some proverbs like  "Covering someone/something with the coat of love" or "Truth is a warming coat".
